The Measurement Clubs

What are the measurement Clubs?

Supported by MAS-WM the clubs are designed to promote good measurement practice in the West Midlands Manufacturing Sector.

Each club comprises of 4-5 like minded SME manufacturers brought together to enhance and reinforce their use of measurement within their businesses.

The first club focuses on CMM based measurement and offers its members a total of 8 days assistance including two members of their staff being trained to the new nationally accredited level one NPL courses.

Future clubs include:

  • CMM Arms
  • In Process Measurement
  • Scanning and Reverse Engineering

How does the CMM Club work?

As a member you will receive an audit visit in order to review your equipment and resources.  This is followed by a series of  training courses to NPL level one measurement qualification for two of your members of staff. The final session will be three days of one2one onsite assistance to help promote the use of your existing CMM facilities on your existing products.

We will also provide the services of a measurement specialist to refine and enhance your measurement processes and support its implementation.

What is the NPL Measurement qualification?

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) Training framework brings together the measurement community to ensure the delivery of consistent, accredited, credible qualifications,  underpinned by a syllabus that is  constantly evolving to reflect the changing requirements of industry.

The NPL-Training framework is divided into four levels:

1) Measurement user
2) Measurement applier
3) Measurement developer
4) Measurement definer

Level one, offered to members of the measurement clubs provides the underpinning knowledge and expertise for anyone who uses measurement tools or requires an  appreciation of the importance of measurement.

On completion you will have an understanding of principal measurement methods and techniques and basic measurement equipment will be used correctly and with confidence.
