The centre opened in September 2006 and is equipped with the latest measurement technology. We provide practical advice, training, and consultancy to businesses in the West Midlands region.
The driver for the development of the Centre was market recognition of the knowledge gap with regard to the general understanding and appreciation of measurement issues, and the potential for increased profitability and efficiency through effective use of advanced measurement techniques.
Funded by Advantage West Midlands and working closely with the West Midlands Manufacturing Advisory Service, the centre provides the region’s manufacturing firms with a focal point for measurement expertise and services – a key underlying technology that supports all manufacturing activities.
Our partners include Advantage West Midlands, National Physical Laboratory, Manufacturing Advisory Service – West Midlands, Renishaw Plc, The Precise Group, On Machine Manufacturing Project, Coventry University Future Manufacturing Applied Research Centre (FMARC) and The Department of Trade and Industry.
We offer expert vendor-independent advice to help companies identify and solve their measurement problems. The centre is equipped with almost £1m worth of the very latest measurement equipment including fixed and portable 1D, 2D and 3D coordinate measurement tools such as CMMs, Renishaw on-machine probing, laser scanning, laser tracking and hardness, surface finish and profile vision systems.
